Visiting Home

Category: Life of a Vet | Date: Jul 18 2007 | By: admin

Currently I am in Tokyo. I have not been back home for two years and it is nice to see the family. Yup, life in Japan. tall buildings, clean roads, lots and lots of nice clothings and accessories seen everywhere. As I flew into Tokyo at night with millions of shinning lights, I was almost blinded. The only lights I see around my house are those of Serena Lodge, Governer’s Lodge and Kichwa Tembo camp… Definately it is a change from my mundane savannah life. No more dusts, No more fetching of rain water, No more Kerosine Lamp, No more cattle dung smell, etc.

Umm…. Life is good.

But, for some reason I miss my half termite-eaten house in the Mara…

I will be back in Mara in one week or so.

Get a new laptop yet? How did your meeting the middle of June with the dog vaccinations? Are there any dogs left?

Dana-

Yes, I am using my new laptop now.

The meeting went good and we are moving on with the project. I will start updating the details as soon as I finish sorting out some politics in Nairobi. Unfortunately, official document arrangement takes time in Kenya and sick dogs from the last outbreak area are all gone but from the past pattern, I am sure that the outbreak will soon errupt in the nearby area. Our task is to prevent that from happaning.

Hi Asuka

Good to see you are doing well and are enjoying your time back in Japan with family.
The reverse culture-shock was always the most surprising to me - maybe because I was not as prepared for it as the initial culture shock of a new place. The difference between Japan and Mara must be enormous. It is an emotional experience I am sure.

Be good.
