Vaccination Photos

Category: Dogs, Life of a Vet | Date: Mar 16 2008 | By: admin

I had couple of friends who were visiting me and they were happy to be the cameraman during their stay. Usually, there is no photos of myself, but this time I managed to sneak myself into some of the photos.

Nice photo of you Asuka, I hope you had a little free time to enjoy their visit! Tell Lesingo I think he is dog’s best friend. Can you tell us what spay/neuter programs are available there?

asuka, on 16 Mar 2008

There is no spay/neuter program is available in this area. I would like to do it on my free time, but currently I do not own an autoclave to sterilze my surgical equipment and I do not feel comfortable doing intra-abdominal surgery with lack of proper sterilizer.

What free time! Boy, if I could, I buy you one myself but you would still need help! Asuka, couldn’t male dogs be neutered with a less invasive technique? How much would this autoclave cost?

Dana-Phoenix Arizona, on 16 Mar 2008

I agree with Theresa - what free time?

Yes, let us know how much an autoclave will cost - checking on line here in the States I see prices from $700-$2000 and more.

We need to help you purchase one.

Theresa Siskind St Petersburg FL, on 16 Mar 2008

Dana, just curious, are these prices for new ones? What about one that has been used and sanitized?

Theresa Siskind St Petersburg FL, on 16 Mar 2008

Nope, dumb idea of mine about used equipment, very little warranty is given. Best to stick with a new one.

Dana-Phoenix Arizona, on 16 Mar 2008

Theresa - The lower priced ones are “used” and all the ones I saw are 110 volts so wouldn’t work over in Kenya.

Will be interesting to see how much they cost over there.

Thanks, Dana. I was looking on line to see if Asuka’s program would qualify for a grant. Sea World/ Busch gardens rewards grants to people working in areas of conservation, but the dead line has expired for 2008. I agree with you, we should get an autoclave for Asuka.

asuka, on 17 Mar 2008

Thanks you guys! I am going to Nairobi today so will check on current price of autoclave, as the price list I have is from couple of years ago.
I have applied for Sea World/Busch Garden Grant and Walt Disney Conservation Fund for 2008, but still waiting for thier reply. I got rejected from Nat.Geo Society Fund and WWF. I am going to apply for Toyota EcoFund in late April. Hope things will turn out good!

We are keeping our fingers crossed, good luck! And please, let us know about the autoclave.
